When I started my interest in reptiles I was only young. At this stage of my life I have had little or no knowledge and do not meet the requirements of the wonderful creatures so I did not keep them effectively. We just kept the local lizards, so the cage temperature was not a problem.
I re-kindled my desire later in life, but I also had mortgages, the cost for a family and the cost of living to fight. A reptile was expensive enough, without the costCages and accessories retail. So I built my own. It saved me a lot of money.
You need some basic tools, but the money can be saved by some of these instruments to acquire the cage. The rest can go into accessories so that the cost of a basic cage with nothing else can make a cage, get some tools and equipment left the cage and also money. This is a big difference.
Many people have the materials for the home. If youcages can be your own to make more money with little pieces of wood or have already, screws, old glass, hinges, etc. light sticks that you save it again in the basement or garage.
When you update one of my cages recently, I was able to some of the materials and equipment for use on the re-use new cage. This has saved me, for the purchase of new equipment and materials.
Another advantage is the ability to maintain its cage. Many plastic orcages form is not possible to determine if they are broken. With a cage you have, you can usually repair or replace broken door locks (I have not yet had one of these, because they are very robust).
If you build your own cage, you decide how strong it will be and what quality of fitting, glues and materials you will use. Use the superior quality of materials and accessories, the better the final product cage. You're not saving money at the mercy of manufacturerspoor quality materials and finish quality.
Another advantage is the ability to adapt to the cages for your purposes. One of my first cage as a cage was constructed, but by a removable divider in the middle, it allows me to reuse the cage when I sent one of the snakes. This factor was mounted above the center of a heat pad, so that will be housed in a cage for two reptiles. He also had two doors. The cage is now used for another purpose, but will soon be empty. TheDivisor can not be put back in the cage for another small snake and are then removed simply because the snake gets bigger. Tis Snake will eventually be moved to a cage of trees. To purchase a plastic cage with a partition that is only a temporary cage before the snake enters the final in a cage is an expensive proposition.
If you need to upgrade again, you have the time to build the final cage as the snake grows.
