Have you been poring over reviews of fencing to keep him or her in? Then this review of the Petsafe Underground Wire Radio Fence is for you.

I did this for years and I'm sure you would agree with me that it's a major bother, not to mention it's very unsafe for your pet to be roaming about the neighborhood unattended whenever he or she pleases.

I live on 5 acres, and I had a beloved dog who constantly got out of the fence. She was not even a dog who lived outside as all of my dogs are house pets. However, they do go out sometimes, and she unerringly would head straight for a weak area in the fence and head out to the fields next to me. I didn't worry too much because we are not near a real busy highway but eventually she got out and got hit by a car. The loss of that dog devastated me, and I became obsessed with keeping my other dogs inside the fence no matter what. I considered another brand of wireless fence product but on checking into it, it was extremely expensive, I think it was going to be more than a thousand dollars, and this was about 9 years ago so it's probably even more expensive now.

What I ended up ordering was the Petsafe Underground Radio Fence. The one I purchased was not wireless although they do sell that type. The product I bought is the kind which has a wire and you can either bury it if it would be in the way, or you can just lay it along your fence line or even tack it to your fence.

The kit comes with a transmitter, wire, boundary flags for training, a receiver collar for the dog to wear, and a training and installation DVD. The cost is very low for this type of item, and at the time of this writing the kits range from 9 to 9, just a fraction of the cost of the other wireless product I had considered.

You may now wonder, since it is such a reasonable price, does it work? I am here to tell you it works perfectly. I've had this underground fence for 9 years now and the only problems I've ever had with it are when occasionally we cut the wire with a lawnmower and have to splice it back together (easy), or when, living in Florida, the transmitter gets struck by lightning because I forget to unplug it during a storm. In this case, the PetSafe Radio Fence company will replace your transmitter. For the first year we had it replaced free, and then after that we paid a small fee of about . They are very good about this and have always sent our new transmitter out before we even sent the old one back to them so there is very little time spent without a fence. I really can't say enough nice things about the customer service there. Very nice people.

So I would highly recommend the Petsafe Underground Wire Fence. I didn't just go online and read about it in order to bring you this review, I've actually used this product for almost 10 years and I give it my heartfelt recommendation. My dogs stay inside the fence where they belong and I have peace of mind.
